ADP is hiring a Senior Manager Software Development.

This requires leaders and team members who are demonstrating the willingness to learn, have a can-do mentality, are eager to get their hands dirty-feet wet, are flexible and agile.
In this role, you will work in an Agile development environment, managing one and in future potentially multiple Global Payroll Convergence Development teams. Each team consists of a product owner, scrum master, developers, QA/automation engineers.
As development manager you are managing the Development team and overseeing the (technical) ecosystem(s) for which the Convergence team is developing. Working closely with Product Management, Integrations Architects and DevOps team to align and agree on technical insights and decisions to avoid technical debt or single points of failure. In your role you enable the Development team to be succesfull. You will manage your teams KPIs on code quality, innovation, agility, automation, security and resiliance.
You actively participate in stakeholder meetings to understand business needs and work as one team with your Product Management counterpart to deliver to roadmap.
You will report to the Senior Director , Global Payroll Development and will collaborate with dozens of colleagues around the globe.
What you will do
- Agile – As development manager you are supporting your team(s) to work agile. You are be first point of contact in case of escalations and actively participate in Outcome Based Teams structure with our business stakeholders. You are familiar with Jira Software and Jira Align to monitor progress and team delivered work.
- Lead - you have 5 or more years of team leadership and have delivered amazing results. You pride yourself on developing the people who work for you, as well as providing an inclusive team environment where they all can thrive. We work with ADP StandOut to drive associate engagement and performance.
- Development - working in two-week sprints, you must keep up with timelines and coding standards. You collaborate closely with your Product Management counterpart on roadmap expectations and deliverables. You are always looking ahead to the next coding criteria, quality & security measures and innovation possiblities to build technically sound and functional solutions. Leverage GenAI coding agents and lead the team to adapt and embrace AI Development Life Cycle.
- Continuous Learning - An eagerness to learn will help you keep up with ever-changing technologies and maintain the ability to create the best solutions for our clients. You are comfortable and thrive in an autonomous role since that will be essential for your success.
- Presentations - You have the skill to present and defend your team’s approach to leadership. You partner and work with people across the Global Product and Technology organization to turn ideas into reality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, engineering, or related field.
- 5-10 years proven management experience
- Proven ability to maintain focus and work effectively with multiple demands
- Can-do mentality and fast, eager learner
- Eager to learn new ways of working using GenAI tools like Co Pilot or AmazonQ
- Excellent communications skills and fit to work with team members in different geographical locations.
- Comfortable working in a performance-based and structured environment while demonstrating high ethical standards.
- Leading by example, supporting team members in personal development, and challenging them to their best performance
- Experience in Change management; essential to implement new technology and integration methods.
- Must be able to recognize basic procedural issues as they arise and escalate to the appropriate level.
- Strategic view to foresee future developments
- JIRA expertise to understand backlog, dependencies, reporting on status.
Experienced or familiar with the following technologies/tools:
- Core Java & Frameworks
- Strong proficiency in Core Java (Java 11 or higher) AND Deep understanding of OOP concepts, design patterns, and SOLID principles
- Spring Framework (Boot, MVC, Security)
- Hibernate/JPA
- RESTful APIs and Microservices
- Memory management and performance optimization
- Message queuing systems (Kafka/RabbitMQ)
- Database, Development Tools & Practices
- SQL/NoSQL databases

- Cloud & Infrastructure
- Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Message queuing (Kafka/RabbitMQ)
- Application monitoring and logging.

- Can push the team to further improve their Scrum maturity

- Must possess strong communication and presentation skills. Strong time management skills for managing multiple, diverse and conflicting activities are required.
- Experience in building and consuming services (WCF, Rest, and NET WEP API).
- Basic knowledge on AWS.
- Ability to review strategy, architecture, and design for web applications
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Business, and IT teams (Development and QA)
- Apply design patterns and best practices in enterprise application development
- Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application.
- Strong analytical/functional background and experience with support and operations activities
