ADP Veterans - Civilian Life to Active Duty

[Michelle, Business Consultant, Mobilized National Guard Soldier (2019-2020)]
Some of the flexibility that ADP has offered me has-- it's been very different than my previous place of employment--they honor all of my weekend drills. Sometimes they range from two to three days.
So my unit is currently scheduled for a deployment, so I've actually had an influx in training than what I would normally have. I would say that I've never been made to feel-- I've never been made to feel uncomfortable in any way, shape, or form. My supervisor has always been more than accommodating. And to me, having her, and having her support me still be in the military is very important to me, as I didn't have that in my previous place of employment.

[TEXT] Michelle is currently on active duty and while she serves our country. Our duty is to secure her job when she returns to ADP.

A Veteran Story at ADP

[MUSIC PLAYING]
[FRED] Hi. My name is Fred. I'm with global product technology organization with ADP. I was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for six years. And I've been with ADP for 22 years. I am an end user computing specialist. So we take care of the associate and all of their productivity.
One of my primary roles is taking care of our senior executives in the building. We have two Ex Comm members. And my role is to make sure that they don't have any technology issues and if they do to resolve them.
A veteran brings in traits: a positive attitude, attention to detail. They work well in a team. There are just so many traits that they bring. Leadership is probably one of the biggest ones.
One of the things I've missed from the military was camaraderie, where the people that you work with every day really care about you and want to make you to succeed. Here at ADP, I have found a very similar environment of camaraderie, where people really care about each other and about the environment and the community as well as wanting people to succeed in ADP.

ADP Veterans & Military Families

[MUSIC PLAYING]
[LOGO] ADP, Always Designing for People.
[TEXT] Our associates share why they're proud to be a Veteran or part of a Military family.
[Paul, Senior Application Developer, Veteran, US Marine Corps] Being a veteran means knowing that I served my country and gave back in the most selfless way that I knew how. I heard a comment a few years back regarding veterans that pretty much sums up all of us. It says, a veteran is someone who, at some point in his or her life, decided to write a blank check made payable to the United States of America for an amount up to and including their lives. Now there's not many people that are willing to write that check, and that makes me proud to be a veteran.
[Carinda, Senior Business Resiliency Planner, Military Spouse and Mom] I was luckily married to a Vietnam veteran-- Navy, for 27 years until he passed. And I was always so proud of his service, especially during Vietnam. And then my son now, my oldest son, is a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy, and hoping for a 30-year career and doing well. And my daughter-in-law is a Navy veteran. So I'm just very proud of both of them and very humbled that I get to be mom and grandma.
[Jim, Project Manager, Veteran, US Navy] In my 22 years of Navy service, I was part of something greater than myself with shipmates from around the United States who come from every possible background. Very different, but yet we learned to work as a team. We became shipmates. We would sacrifice everything for each other and work together in complete unity.
[Corrinne, Director of Government Affairs, Wage Garnishment, Military Mom] I am a proud military mom. My oldest is currently serving in the US Army overseas, and so we miss him so much. And my youngest just enlisted in the Marine Corps, leaving in July of 2021. And so while we are a house divided since they are enlisted in different branches of the military, we're so incredibly proud of their decisions at the ages of 17 and 18 to enlist just like many other soldiers, and make the sacrifice of leaving their friends and their family and the comforts of their home to serve our country and to protect our freedoms and our liberties. So many thanks to all who have made that decision.

Michael

Veterans need the opportunity to show business leaders that they can do the hard work in the corporate world. ADP understands this and trains us for our roles and provides the support we need to feel confident about the job we’re doing. Civilian life is much different than military life, and we Veterans approach it with a unique set of skills—leadership, integrity, grace under pressure. All of these attributes translate nicely to the work I am doing today at ADP.

ADP has been the best opportunity I could ask for coming out of my military experience. They are diverse and understanding, and give you much freedom to speak and be heard. There is always an opportunity to voice an idea on how to help further job efficiency in day-to-day operations. This job is amazing!

Expanding upon my leadership skills was my greatest opportunity when transitioning from the military into ADP. No one is a born leader, but in the military when you tell someone to do something they do it. In the corporate world you need to have multiple leadership tools and techniques to pull from when leading people.

Director, Continuous Improvement and U.S. Army Veteran

I choose ADP every day because of the continued support I receive in developing my skills as a leader in the organization.
