ADP Insights - Kenny - Military transition and camaraderie leadership

[SPEECH: KENNY]
My name is Kenny. I'm a Benefit Support Specialist with comprehensive services, and I've been with ADP going on four years.
[DESCRIPTION]
Text: How does ADP support you to be successful?
[MUSIC PLAYING]
[SPEECH]
ADP has been a company that, as a veteran, has given me the ability to say this is the closest thing to the service that it provides in camaraderie—it provides in stability for my family—but at the same time, opportunity to be something more and offer more to someone else.
[DESCRIPTION]
Text: Why do you choose to stay at ADP?
[MUSIC PLAYING]
The reason I stayed at ADP is because it gives me something to do regarding my passion. It doesn't say here's your job, do your job. It says, what can you do for us while you do your job? How do you balance your work life and your work work balance? And it gives me plenty of opportunity to not only say that I'm not a leader, but I'm a servant leader. So as I offer my services to others, I'm able to give it to my clients. I'm able to give it to my associates. And for someone coming on, give them experience and insight.

A Veteran Story at ADP

[MUSIC PLAYING]
[FRED] Hi. My name is Fred. I'm with global product technology organization with ADP. I was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for six years. And I've been with ADP for 22 years. I am an end user computing specialist. So we take care of the associate and all of their productivity.
One of my primary roles is taking care of our senior executives in the building. We have two Ex Comm members. And my role is to make sure that they don't have any technology issues and if they do to resolve them.
A veteran brings in traits: a positive attitude, attention to detail. They work well in a team. There are just so many traits that they bring. Leadership is probably one of the biggest ones.
One of the things I've missed from the military was camaraderie, where the people that you work with every day really care about you and want to make you to succeed. Here at ADP, I have found a very similar environment of camaraderie, where people really care about each other and about the environment and the community as well as wanting people to succeed in ADP.

ADP - Military Strong & Allies Business Resource Group

[MUSIC PLAYING]
[DESCRIPTION]
Logo: ADP, Always Designing for People.
Text: One of the missions of Military Strong & Allies BRG is to provide support to active militaries, veterans and their families.
Text: Mike, Director, Program Management
[SPEECH]
People should join the BRG if they want to feel or they miss the feeling of being part of a team, they want to give back to the community, they want to help others. And not only just veterans but others that have come in from maybe another job or another company.
I think it is a great opportunity for them to expand their professional development on that and even going out of their comfort zone to help with something they've never done before. And I think it's a great opportunity not only just with the military BRG but any BRG.
The sense of belonging, the team, and helping out other people internally as well as externally. The one example would be with Morris Habitat for Humanity. We had two houses last year that were dedicated to veterans, as well as this year, where they did the wall builds on the Florham Park campus.
And the sense of accomplishment and seeing it being built and there on the lawn when they put up the structure, I thought not only impacted the associates doing it but also for the recipient that's going to get that house built for them. They were able to come by and look at the house that was going to be built down the road and framed up on the lawn in Florham Park. I think was pretty impactful for both the recipient and the ADP associates that were involved.

Michael

Veterans need the opportunity to show business leaders that they can do the hard work in the corporate world. ADP understands this and trains us for our roles and provides the support we need to feel confident about the job we’re doing. Civilian life is much different than military life, and we Veterans approach it with a unique set of skills—leadership, integrity, grace under pressure. All of these attributes translate nicely to the work I am doing today at ADP.

ADP has been the best opportunity I could ask for coming out of my military experience. They are diverse and understanding, and give you much freedom to speak and be heard. There is always an opportunity to voice an idea on how to help further job efficiency in day-to-day operations. This job is amazing!

Expanding upon my leadership skills was my greatest opportunity when transitioning from the military into ADP. No one is a born leader, but in the military when you tell someone to do something they do it. In the corporate world you need to have multiple leadership tools and techniques to pull from when leading people.

Director, Continuous Improvement and U.S. Army Veteran

I choose ADP every day because of the continued support I receive in developing my skills as a leader in the organization.
