ADP Innovation Labs is looking for a Lead Software Engineer with extensive NodeJS experience to join an emerging team.

In this role, you will work within a cross-skilled team set out to design and develop new innovative products for Small Businesses. You will be working with technologies such as NodeJS, DSQL, GraphQL, Docker, and ADLC. We are customer oriented, feedback oriented, and we adapt fast – and for that we’re looking to build a state-of-the-art tech stack with cutting edge CI and CD processes.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

Scrum. You'll start each day with a scrum, working in a team to understand responsibilities, identify issues, and communicate coding priorities while choosing user stories to complete. You will also participate in other agile ceremonies, including scheduled sprint demos, where you will present your work to up to 90 stakeholders.
Build teams that thrive. As an experienced leader, you want everyone to shine. You'll start each day by checking in with your engineering team to identify priorities and challenges. You'll find a way to make the team's day go smoother. You are constantly looking for ways to share your knowledge, motivate others and keep everyone engaged and productive.
Build Products. You will use your technical expertise to review your team's work and help your people excel in an Agile environment. You're proactive and hands-on. When you see a potential issue, you never leave things hanging and unfinished. When you and your team deliver a finished product, it's as polished as you could make it.
Variety of work. There is no typical day. You could be checking in with a team in India one minute, meeting with leadership to review initiatives for the coming quarter later and tomorrow handling a few ad hoc requests from your peers in other departments.
Influence and inspire confidence. You are comfortable presenting to senior leaders, product owners, and peers with a compelling voice that you demonstrate through executive presence, leading change, and creating clear executive-level communications on milestone achievements.
Experience. You have 8-12 years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role.

Responsibilities

Develop frontend and backend services in NodeJS and React
Performance tuning, both on code and database levels
Support production software operations, test and debug programs
Develop and extend CI and CD pipeline
Design and maintain automated monitoring, alerting and reporting systems
Report progress and status of assigned tasks to project teams and managers
Build responsible applications using ReactJS

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

You'll have a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent.

Qualifications

Expert in Node.js or Java development – minimum 5 years working experience
Experience designing and developing highly available, and performant applications
TDD experience and an advocate for best software development practices
Extensive experience with at least one other modern programming language in addition to NodeJS, such as C#, Go, Python.
Strong experience with No-SQL and SQL databases
Experience with tools such as Cloud Technology-AWS, Jenkins and Docker
DevOPS and Build Engineering experience is a plus

AI/ML Foundational Proficiencies:

AI/LLM Exposure. Familiar with major AI platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, others) and ability to leverage to enhance products and features.
AI-Assisted Dev Tools. Proficient with coding tools (ChatGPT, Claude, CoPilot, Amazon Q, Cursor, etc).
AI Best Practices. Effective prompt engineering, performance optimization, and secure data handling.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. We offer the following benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Matched Retirement Savings, Wellness Program, Short-and Long-Term Disability, Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Paid Volunteer Time Off, and more. The compensation for this role is USD $93,400.00 - USD $230,000.00 / Year*

*Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage or minimum exempt salary requirement under federal, state and local laws.
