ADP South Africa is hiring a Payroll Specialist!

Location: Gauteng

Hybrid working: 3 days in office and 2 days from home

As a Payroll Specialist at ADP South Africa, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for a portfolio of clients. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who values ownership, accountability, and client interaction, and takes pride in delivering an exceptional client experience while contributing to ADP's reputation for service excellence.

What you can expect on a typical day:

End-to-End Payroll Management. Take ownership of the day-to-day payroll delivery for a portfolio of clients, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with legislative requirements and standard operating procedures. Conduct payroll reviews, reconciliations, and variance checks to verify payroll results and maintain data accuracy. Proactively identify and resolve payroll discrepancies, provide guidance on payroll-related queries, and work closely with clients to ensure a seamless payroll experience. You are accountable for meeting payroll deadlines, maintaining service quality, and delivering a positive client experience.

Payroll Compliance and Quality Assurance. Process payrolls in line with legislative requirements, internal controls, and established payroll procedures. Apply statutory updates and operational changes as communicated through internal channels to ensure ongoing compliance. Perform payroll checks, reconciliations, and audits to identify and resolve discrepancies, escalating issues where necessary. Adhere to payroll best practices to support accurate payroll delivery and a high standard of client service.

Client Relationship Management. Take ownership of the day-to-day client relationship for a portfolio of payroll clients, ensuring a professional, accurate, and responsive service experience. Act as the main point of contact for payroll-related enquiries, manage requests through to resolution, and keep clients informed throughout the payroll cycle. Build trust through reliable service delivery, clear communication, and attention to detail, while ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with ADP standards, service commitments, and established payroll processes.

Service Excellence and Client Satisfaction. Take accountability for delivering a high standard of payroll service to your portfolio of clients, ensuring requests and payroll activities are completed accurately, on time, and in line with agreed service levels. Build positive client relationships through responsive communication, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach. Contribute to client satisfaction and retention by providing a reliable service experience, resolving queries promptly, and consistently meeting ADP's quality and performance standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • A diploma / degree in commerce / human resources or any related qualification / experience

Required Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years payroll experience or experience as an HRIS practitioner with payroll systems experience (Must have Sage300 and/or Premier)
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office

Required Skills, Knowledge & Attributes:

  • Knowledge of SA payroll tax legislation
  • Knowledge of SA labour legislation
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Deadline driven
  • Accountability
  • Problem-solving ability

Bonus Points for These:

  • Experience in a Payroll Outsourcing environment
  • Knowledge of other African countries payroll tax legislation
