Frequently asked questions

We’ll keep this brief and high-level with enough information to give you an idea of what’s going on without bogging you down with too many details.

So, here we go!

General

How is ADP doing during this crisis?

ADP has weathered many storms in its 71-year history. We pride ourselves not only on our stability but on our resilience. We have the strength and expertise to successfully navigate our way through the crisis while assisting our clients to do the same. We rapidly implemented a plan that allowed our global workforce to work remotely. We are proud of our technologists for their rapid execution of this plan to enable us to run “business as usual” with the same productivity and service levels for our clients.

Learn more about the actions we’ve taken to support clients and the impactful changes we’ve made in our blog post: ADP Helps Clients Navigate the Way Forward to a Return to Work.

Returning to the office & remote work

ADP lives by a set of strong values; one of them is “every person counts.” We are cautious and conservative when it comes to our people and committed to transparently communicating our plans. ADP has put in place prudent measures to keep our people safe. We plan to follow a phased approach to bringing our associates back to the office on a volunteer-basis to learn what works and incorporate those learnings back into subsequent phases. We will also adapt to changing circumstances, legislation, and guidelines. ADP will follow three guiding principles for our reopening: maintain a safe work environment for our people, maintain continuity of business operations globally to service our clients, and comply with all national, regional, and local regulations.

Will everyone be expected to go back to work at once?

No, we will pilot a return with a handful of our global locations, starting at 10% capacity.

What criteria is ADP using to allow people to return to work?

All of these criteria will come into consideration when ADP chooses locations to pilot and implement our return to work plan: current government requirements, local COVID-19 trends, health and safety best practices, and specific office restrictions and mandatory building requirements. If we see a rapid shift in local conditions, ADP will roll back to a remote work situation.

Does ADP offer remote work unrelated to the current pandemic?

Yes! When searching for jobs on our careers sites, there is a filter on the job search page called “Home Office Jobs.” Choose “Yes” to select and search for remote positions.

If I start my role working from home, will I be able to work remotely forever?

We are proud of the speed and efficiency at which we moved work remotely, but over the long-term, we believe it is not optimal for every role. We’ve experienced the benefit and power of bringing teams together within our locations, and feel for some functions physical presence is vital to our culture and long-term success. There is currently no timeframe on when we will fully open our offices.

Safety at work

In some cases, ADP has chosen to maintain stricter standards than local regulations suggest. Even when local governments lift stay-at-home orders, we will base our decision to open an office on local mandates, public health guidance, and our determination that the facility is prepared and able to comply with our desired protocols. What this means is that some policies and procedures we put in place at our offices may be more protective than local recommendations. For example, at all ADP locations, we will adhere to a 6-foot / 2-meter minimum standard for social distancing, even if some countries only recommend a 3-foot / 1-meter standard.

Will I be required to wear a mask?

Yes, you will be required to wear a face-covering when entering our buildings and everywhere inside, except when you are alone in your office or a personal workspace. For field associates, we require you to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face-coverings or masks, anytime you visit a client or prospect and follow proper PPE usage guidelines while maintaining a safe social distance.

What are my responsibilities as an ADP associate to keep myself and others safe when I start my job in the office?

All associates will be required to follow the health and safety policies and protocols set forth by ADP, many of which you should be familiar with already. Where permitted by law, these things include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete associate training on safety protocols before reporting to the office for the first time
  • Stay home if you are unwell
  • Take daily health assessments and submit results via an app before coming to work every day
  • Pass a temperature check before entering the building
  • Follow badging policies
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as masks in the building when not in your personal workspace

Job related questions

Will I be allowed to travel as part of my job?

Air travel is currently prohibited, but ADP will reevaluate the situation every 30 days

If I take the job, how will onboarding work?

If your location is not yet open or completed its pilot phase, don’t worry, you will receive everything you need to start your role remotely.

I have a health condition that puts me in a high-risk category but doesn’t impact my ability to do the job remotely. Will my high-risk status negatively impact me during the hiring process?

No, being in a high-risk category will not impact you during the hiring process. ADP makes hiring decisions without regard to age, sex, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

At this time, most ADP associates are working remotely. ADP has not set a specific date for associates to return to their offices.  If you join ADP, we expect that you would be able to work remotely for the near term.  If you are asked to report to an office and do not feel comfortable doing so because of a medical condition or high-risk status, you should discuss your health-related concerns with your medical provider. You also may contact ADP’s Accommodations team at AR.LOA.and.Accommodations@ADP.com to discuss your concerns and see if there is a way for ADP to accommodate you.

Will I be expected to come into the office for an interview?

No. In today’s virtual world we have moved our interview process to video and a virtual setting. We expect the same level of professionalism in the virtual interview as you would demonstrate in an in-person experience.

I’m applying for a client- or prospect-facing role. How should I do my job?

The first option will always be to conduct business using virtual tools and technology, which has quickly become the norm. We have protocols and criteria in place for in-person interactions if they are determined to be the only viable option.

If hired, will I be required to take a COVID-19 test before my start date?

Since we are currently in a “remote work” situation for the majority of our workforce, taking a COVID test is not a condition of employment or required prior to your start date. Before entering any ADP office, prospect, or client location, we have protocols in place that every associate must follow to prevent the spread of COVID. You will receive training on your responsibilities as an associate.

As an employee, if I get COVID, will I be paid?

Yes, associates who contract COVID will be paid without impacting their sick time allocation

As an employee, if I travel out-of-state for personal reasons, am I permitted to go back to the office, or do I have to wait for the recommended 14-day quarantine period?

If you travel out-of-state, you must follow the 14-day quarantine period and work from home.

Say hello and stay connected.
